TALENTED sports stars and clubs from across Worcester are being invited to apply for the next round of free sport grants from Freedom Leisure.
The company, which operates Worcester’s three leisure centres and provides the Active Communities service on behalf on behalf of Worcester City Council, have opened the grants scheme and urged interested parties to apply before the closing date of April 30.
Freedom Leisure, through funding from Worcester City Council, runs an annual grants scheme offering up to £500 to help local clubs with development, facilities and participation and up to £300 to help talented individuals, in their pursuit of elite sports performance – and handed out a whopping £5,450 last year.
Matthew Rogers, Freedom Leisure Active Communities manager, said: “With only two windows each year we don’t want anyone to miss out, so I urge them to apply.
“Freedom Leisure is hugely committed to supporting the local community in their bid to stay active and pursue sport, and these grants have certainly helped many people in Worcester to do this over the years.”
There are a limited number of grants being awarded in each round, with the panel basing the decision on the merits of each individual application.
Some rounds will see more grants awarded than others.
