A HOLLYWOOD A-lister has took a break from filming blockbusters to make a surprise donation to a Worcester children’s charity.
Critically acclaimed actor Tom Hardy, star of smash hits ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘The Revenant’, ‘Inception’ and ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and TV series ‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Taboo’, recently donated £7,000 to Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The amount was raised from a charity day organised by financial services company ICAP, which saw Tom taking to the phones at the company offices in London, where he spoke directly to ICAP’s customers to close deals and boost trading volumes – raising funds for Acorns in the process.
ICAP donated 100 per cent of revenues and brokers’ commissions from deals closed on its charity day, raising £8.2million towards good causes.
Louise Arnold, director of income generation at Acorns, said: “Tom did an amazing job closing deals and we really appreciate his time and help raising funds and awareness for our work.
“We have to raise nearly £10million every year to provide the complex range of services, care and support families rely on, so this donation will help make a real difference to families across the region.”
