A ST JOHN’S woman has been inspired to do her bit to help a young boy get much-needed equipment to help him stand.

Toni Ellsworth, 70, will be holding a stall at Ketch Boot Sale every Saturday after she was inspired by the story of five-year-old Bobby Allen, which appeared on the front page last week.

Bobby’s family are appealing for donations for a special £2,000 standing frame which will help the youngster, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3, join in games with his friends.

Toni said: “When I saw the newspaper last week I knew I wanted to help. Seeing that Bobby needs a walker to stand, I want the young lad to have as much money as he can get.”

Toni, who is also hoping to give a donation of £250, will be selling a variety of items on her stall every week.

“I sell absolutely anything and everything. I have raised money for charities in the past and I want to help as much as I can,” she said.

“When you get older, you don’t need pennies. The equipment will make a big difference.”

Ketch Car Boot Sale will be from 12pm to 4pm every Saturday.
