TWO MEN have been jailed after a robbery in Malvern.

Matthew Smith, 18, of no fixed address, and Richard Arnold, 33, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern, were each sentenced to five years and three months in prison at Worcester Crown Court.

On Thursday September 9, Smith and Arnold entered Malvern Wines on Newtown Road and threatened staff with knives.

A quantity of cash and spirits were stolen before they left the scene on foot towards Hornyold Road.

During their investigation, police identified Smith and Arnold.

On September 12, Smith was arrested in Ombersley Road, Worcester, and on September 26, Arnold was held on Pickersleigh Road, Malvern.

They were charged with robbery and pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court on October 25.

Det Sgt Ed Jones said: “We would like to thank the local Malvern community for their support and access to vital CCTV that assisted in identifying the suspects.

“This result brings justice for the victim and reassurance to the community that two dangerous individuals have been sentenced.”
