Volunteers sign up to help festival

Rob George 16th Jan, 2020   0

FESTIVAL chiefs’ call out for volunteers has resulted in an impressive response from local people across the county.

More than 70 volunteer applications were received by The Arches Worcester Festival team seeking volunteers to bring Worcester’s four brand new festivals to life in 2020.

Most of the applicants are participating in Light Night Worcester and 50 of the volunteers will be part of the large colourful umbrella parade spectacle by worldwide performance producers, Cirque Bijou setting off from The Hive at 7pm.

The other volunteers will be supporting the Festival team to make sure everything runs smoothly on the night.

Jordan Leaman is among those who have stepped up to offer their time and said: “It’s great to see events like this connecting people and a great chance for me to step forward and do what I can to support Worcester’s modern cultural society and the interests of my good friends involved with performing arts.”

Festival Director David Edmunds said: “It was great to meet so many of our new volunteers at our performance rehearsals and training and briefing events. Our volunteers are so important, helping to stage an unforgettable event and make sure everything runs smoothly and that everyone goes away with great memories.”

As well as participating at Light Night Worcester volunteers are also being sought to get involved in Atmosphere: the second new festival taking place in April, Disrupting the Norm in July and Worcester’s International Story Festival in October.
