AN AWARD-WINNING city pub welcomed Worcester MP Robin Walker to celebrate their recent honour.
Staff at the Brewers Arms are celebrating the Ei Publican Partnerships Wales and West Midlands Pubs in Bloom 2019 award.
Mr Walker visited the pub to chat to staff about their triumph, as well as pints, polling and politics.
The city MP has long campaigned to support local pubs and to get the Alma listed as an Asset of Community Value, joining other local pubs with increased planning protection.
The Alma Tavern has recently been established as a polling station, allowing a local primary school to remain open and operating on election days.
After the school raised safeguarding issues in relation to being used as a polling station, Mr Walker made successful representations on its behalf to change the location of the polling station.
“I have long championed pubs and believe in their power to create powerful community hubs and I am committed to supporting them in every way I can,” he said.
“Worcester has a fantastic and broad range of historic and unique pubs.”
