BUDDING writers from Bishop Perowne CE College are celebrating after six students were honoured with national awards.

Young Writers promotes poetry and creative writing for children and young people aged between five and 18 years old.

The competition invited students to create a piece of writing that was no more than 100 words and focused on the villain of the story.

Students Billy Redfern-Webb, Katelyn Johnson, Cameron Price, Bailey Cornish, Kiera Davis and Chelse Allen will now see their winning entries published in an upcoming book called Twisted Tales.

Headteacher Jane Price said: “It’s lovely to see such budding talent! The subject really encouraged the students to think differently and be creative.

“Congratulations to Billy, Katelyn, Cameron, Bailey, Kiera and Chelse; we’re delighted their stories have been selected and we are looking forward to seeing their work published in the book.”
