Wild about what they do

A FUN-FILLED family spectacular will be on offer at Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester this weekend.

Acorns for the Three Counties will be opening its glorious gardens on Saturday, September 1 for a summer fete jam-packed with a whole host of entertainment and activities.

Organisers hope to repeat the success of their last event, which saw more than 300 people flock to Acorns for the Three Counties and raise the staggering sum of £4,000 towards the charity’s care for children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions.

One of the organisers Katreena Barnes said: “We can’t wait for the garden fete! We’ve planned a fantastic event but we need the support of the community to make it a success. So why not do something a little different this Saturday and come along?”

The event, which promises to be fun for the whole family, will run from 1pm to 4pm at the Bath Road hospice. It will feature live entertainment, a range of stalls, games, face painting, a bouncy castle and refreshments as well as tours of the hospice.

Acorns Heritage Lottery-funded Story Box Caravan will also be at the fete collecting your stories of Acorns and memories from the last three decades as part of an exciting history project to celebrate the charity’s 30th anniversary.

Katreena added: “It’s going to be a great fun-filled day with lots to see and do. It’s the perfect event to bring the whole family to. Plus, any money spent at the fete will help us continue our work supporting local children and their families at Acorns.”

Established in 1988, Acorns offers a network of specialist palliative care and support for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.

The charity relies heavily on fund-raising to continue providing its services, which costs nearly £10million every year.
