A CITY resident has won £2,000 on the Worcester Community Lottery this week – with a second person winning £250 at the beginning of the month.

Both winners had chosen the Friends of Tudor Grange Academy as the local cause to benefit from their lottery subscription.  The school is one of 78 local causes which people can raise funds for when they play the lottery.

A spokesperson for the Academy said: “We are so pleased for the winners and are very grateful to them for choosing to support our school community in this way”.

Worcester Community Lottery players have a one-in-50 chance of winning a prize, up to a maximum of £25,000.  They sign up at www.worcesterlottery.org for entry into a weekly draw.

Since the lottery’s launch, over £16,000 has been paid out in prizes to people living in the Worcester area.

To date the Worcester Community Lottery has raised over £57,700 for local good causes – including schools, charities, arts organisations and sports clubs.

The Mayor of Worcester, Coun Stephen Hodgson said: “The Worcester Community Lottery is an exciting fun way for city residents to support their favourite local good cause – and they might even scoop £25,000!

“The great thing about this lottery is that players can choose exactly which good cause they want to support when they sign up at www.worcesterlottery.org.”
