Police arrest 40-year-old man following sexual assault in Worcester

A WORCESTER man has been arrested following a sexual assault in the City centre.

West Merica Police arrested the man, a 40-year-old, earlier today (Thursday) on suspicion of sexual assault and he is currently in police custody.

The incident took place on Tuesday, December 12 just before 5.30am, at the junction of Castle Street and Croft Road.

The victim, a woman in her fifties, was walking under the viaduct by the entrance of the Cattlemarket Car Park when she was approached from behind by a man.




The offender, described as wearing dark clothing, put his hands over her face and touched her inappropriately over her clothing, before she ran off.

Det Insp John Cashion, of Worcester CID said: “This was a very frightening incident for the victim and specialist officers continue to support her.


“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident or may have any information that could assist with enquiries to please come forward.”

Anyone with information should call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 63s of Tuesday, December 12, 2017.
