Worcester beer festival a thirst class event

THOUSANDS of real ale and cider enthusiasts flocked to Pitchcroft racecourse for this year’s Worcester Beer Festival.

The event saw a range of more than 170 beers, 100 ciders and perrys as well as fruit and grape wines on offer for drinkers to enjoy.

The Worcester CAMRA festival is one of the biggest outdoor real ale, cider and perry festivals in the country, and again pulled in the punters who enjoyed a few pints, a sit out in the sun and live music from a variety of bands.

Organisers again ensured a large selection of beers were still available on the Saturday of the event to avoid disappointment.

And organisers confirmed this year’s event had again proved popular with in excess of 11,000 visitors across the three days.

Among those enjoying the festival were Hannah White, Dani Balagh, Laura Harris, Ellis McBurney, all from Worcester.

The four love the variety of ciders on offer and Hannah said: “We come every year to celebrate Ellie’s birthday.”

Laura added: “We also love the social side of it – we see a lot of people who we haven’t seen for ages, some since high school.”

Regulars Andrew Portman and Ian Mylotte have supported the festival since 2013 and donned their lederhosen for the occasion.

“We always have a great time and a good laugh and there’s always a wonderful atmosphere,” Andrew said.
