City look for first win as Tamworth visit

Worcester Editorial 23rd Aug, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

WORCESTER City will be looking to pick up their first three points of the season later today (Saturday) when they welcome Midlands rivals Tamworth to Aggborough.

Carl Heeley’s men head into the Vanarama Conference North clash on the back of two draws and a 1-0 defeat last time out against Guiseley, but will be buoyed by their Aggborough form which has seen them lose just once since the turn of the year.

The Blue and Whites will be looking to avoid back-to-back league defeats for the first time since February 22, and Heeley has a fully-fit squad to pick from ahead of the encounter.

Tamworth suffered a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Stockport County last Saturday (August 16) after a 0-0 draw against Harrogate and a 2-1 success over Gloucester had given them confidence of an instant return to the Conference Premier.

The Lambs finished second-from-bottom last season but will still be haunted from the last time these two club’s met as City pulled back a 3-0 deficit to claim a point at St George’s Lane in 1998.

A live update for the game will be available on the website.
