City looking to get back to winning ways

Worcester Editorial 15th Dec, 2018   0

WORCESTER City have the perfect chance to get back to winning ways in the league this afternoon when they play host to basement boys Wolverhampton Sporting Community.

Wolverhampton have won just three games since their promotion to Midland League Premier Division and find themselves four points adrift of safety at the halfway stage of the campaign.

The previous encounter between the two sides back in September saw John Snape’s men secure a 3-2 victory at Pride Park, thanks to goals from Jordan Harrison, Liam Lockett and James Baldwin.

City, who beat Bromsgrove Sporting 3-2 in the Worcestershire Senior Urn semi-finals on Tuesday, dropped to ninth in the league standings following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at title hopefuls Sporting Khalsa.

David Meese put Khalsa ahead in the 17th minute before Jamal Lawrence equalised just before the hour mark.

Substitute James Balwin nosed City ahead in the 81st minute but eight minutes later Khalsa salvaged a point through Dan Westwood.
