City sign four ahead of league opener

WORCESTER City will kick off their Vanarama Conference North season against Stalybridge Celtic boosted by four further signings.

Carl Heeley’s side welcome The Celts to Aggborough tomorrow (Saturday) for the curtain-raiser, with utility man Connor Gater, winger David McDermott, fellow wide player Tristan Dunkley and striker Nick Wright all vying to make their debuts.

The four men join Mike Symons, Danny Jackman, Connor Gudger, Jacob Rowe and Nathan Vaughan in becoming City’s summer recruits.

The Blue and Whites will be confident ahead of the opener after they did the double – 2-1 home and away – over Celtic last season and were beaten at their temporary home just once from the turn of the year.

There’s further optimism for Heeley’s men, who have only lost to their visitors twice in the last twenty years on home soil.

Keith Briggs’ side narrowly avoided the drop in April and will be hoping a change in CEO, training facilities and a raft of new faces in the first team will make for a better campaign this time out.

Daniel Nti could feature for the hosts despite heavy interest from Wrexham, as City have not reached a satisfactory conclusion with The Reds, Nti or his agent.

Fellow striker Ethan Moore has been told he is not needed by the club and is free to find a move away from Aggborough.
