WORCESTER City have added a defender to their ranks with the capture of Rugby Town captain Alex Gudger.
Gudger becomes the Blue & Whites’ third summer signing after he ended his three-year stint with the Warwickshire outfit.
The 22-year-old is no stranger to City, however, having played – and impressed – against them in the last two seasons’ FA Cup ties between the pair.
Joint manager Carl Heeley said: “Alex is a player we have monitored very closely over the past three or four years and we feel he has always demonstrated the ability to play at a higher level and we are delighted to now give him the opportunity to do so.
“He is strong in the air and comfortable with the ball at his feet and being left-footed that always brings a nice balance to a central defensive partnership.
“We feel Alex has a lot of improvement still to come in his game and the set-up at the club will maximise that potential.”
Gudger will hope to fill the void left by defender Anthony Charles, who was released as part of Worcester’s summer clearout.
