Djukic expecting another tough test against Cheshire

WORCESTER Wolves forward Stefan Djukic wants his team to prove they are the best in the league when they entertain Cheshire Phoenix tomorrow night (Friday, 7.30pm) at the University of Worcester Arena.

Wolves currently sit top of the BBL four points clear of second placed Leicester Riders and could increase the gap to six points by recording their eighth straight win in the league.

Friday’s opponents Cheshire Phoenix sit in seventh place chasing a BBL Playoff place after enduring a hit and miss season so far winning nine and losing nine from their 18 matches.

Both sides produced a thrilling contest when they last faced each other in October with Wolves winning 94-90 after overtime.

And Djukic, who is playing in his first season in the BBL, believes Cheshire will once again prove to be tough opposition for the title chasers.

“Cheshire have got some chemistry going on since the roster changes they made and they are a serious threat to every team – as they proved last weekend against (Leicester) Riders,” he said.

“We beat them in overtime before they made their changes, so we’re expecting a really good game. Our team is also stronger now too and we had a bad game that time.

“It’s going to be a tough game. I believe Cheshire are going to play in a galvanised way and with a huge hunger to win, something which will make this match even better.

“We want to prove we are the number one team in this league.”
