Fans are urged to be the 16th man

RUGBY fans in Worcester have been urged to get behind newly-promoted Warriors’ bid to survive in the Aviva Premiership.

Chief executive Jim O’Toole has issued the rallying call following the unveiling of the club’s fixtures for the upcoming season.

Warriors will launch their 2015/16 campaign against Northampton Saints at Sixways on Friday, October 16 in front of the BT Sport cameras.

They will then face trips to Sale Sharks and Gloucester in the opening month of the season before hosting Newcastle Falcons.

O’Toole said he hoped people in Worcester would follow their campaign as they look to retain their status in the top flight.

“We are all very excited about our return to the Aviva Premiership and to open the season at home in front of the BT Sport cameras against a side of the calibre of Northampton Saints is what winning promotion back to this league is all about,” he said.

“Every game will be tough and this season we will be relying on our supporters to be our 16th man more than ever as we look to establish ourselves as a Premiership club.”

After travelling to Twickenham to face Saracens at the end of November, Christmas looks set to be a tough period for Warriors.

December will see them take on Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby before opening 2016 with a home clash with Harlequins.

Warriors will then embark on their first trip to the Ricoh Arena on Sunday, January 10 for a first ever Midlands derby with Wasps.

If Worcester find themselves at the wrong end of the table, March could be a crucial month as they face Newcastle, Gloucester and London Irish.

Matches against Exeter Chiefs and Wasps will follow in April before a tough end to the season sees them travel to Leicester and host reigning campaign Saracens.
