Fit-again Short has got a point to prove

WARRIORS winger Andy Short said it was ‘great’ to get back out on the field after sitting on the sidelines for four months.

The 24-year-old back returned to action in Warriors’ recent European Challenge Cup games against Zebre and La Rochelle, when he played a total of 147 minutes, and is now ready and raring to excel in his second spell at Worcester.

Short re-joined the Sixways club from Bristol last year, but after just six minutes in a friendly against Barbarians in September, the talented winger picked up an injury.

But the Worcester-born back believes the frustration of getting back to full fitness is behind him and is looking forward to the tail end of Warriors’ Premiership campaign.

“It’s been a tough few months especially after the longest pre-season ever because of the World Cup, but I’m back fit now,” said the former Worcester Sixth Form College student.

“Personally, it was great to put the Worcester shirt on against Zebre, but the end result was disappointing.

“I think I’ve got a lot more to prove and will continue to push for a place in the first team.

“I want to contribute to the team’s upcoming performances, especially with a very important block of Premiership games approaching.

“We’ve been quite unlucky with how results have got away from us recently, but if we just keep playing good rugby like we have been, our fortunes should change.

“I’m looking forward to being apart of the squad going into these tough fixtures and I hope I can help the team push up the Premiership table,” he added.
