FT: Worcester City 2-0 Leamington

Worcester Editorial 14th Oct, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

LIVE updates from our man at Aggborough, Jonny Bonell, where Worcester City take on Leamington with both sides aiming to reach the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round.

The live update has now finished.

A goal in each half from Ellis Deeney and a first for Danny Jackman seal Worcester City’s passage into the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. They had to dig in deep to secure the win but the Blue and Whites now stand a very real chance of making the First Round Proper for the first time in nearly 10 years. Thanks for following tonight.

FULL-TIME: Worcester City 2-0 Leamington

90min: Leamington think they set up a grand stand finale but James Fry has his header disallowed as the referee deemed he knocked it out the hands of keeper Vaughan.

– 5 minutes of added time.

89min: SUB: Graham Hutchison comes on for goal-scorer Danny Jackman in the hosts final change.

86min: It’s all kicked off here as Mugunda seemed to carry McDermott to the ground, both players got involved in a scrap which subsequently saw players and staff from both sides enter the pith to try and calm the situation. Both booked.

85min: Five minutes to go here and City well and truly have one foot in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

80min: SUB: Sean Geddes comes off for David McDermott as City make their second change.

74min: Vaughan produces a fine one-handed save to tip over a Newton effort from inside the box. Fry just also crossed for substitute Wint who heads straight at the keeper.

71min: SUB: Lemaington make a double change as Chilton and Wint enter the game.

69min: Leamington skipper Morley tries his luck from fully 30-yards and Vaughan makes an unconventional save to palm it behind. The keeper then wins a free-kick for a foul on him during the resulting corner.

66min: Yellow card: Edwards booked for a nasty lunge on Jackman.

62min: Fantastic bit of trickery from Nti wins his side a corner which is headed just over the bar by Rowe.

59min: Game getting more and more stretched as Moore balloons an effort over the top and out of the ground for The Brakes.

53min: SUB: Nick Wright comes off for Jordan Murphy for Worcester.

52min: Leamington test Vaughan for the first time this half as Jacob Rowe heads away straight into the path of Edwards whose half-volley is comfortably saved by the keeper.

More on goal: George Williams makes a great run down the right hand side and set up a perfect cross for the arriving Jackman to glance a perfect header past Collett and into the net to send the City fans behind that goal into raptures. Jackman’s first goal for the club.

47min: GOAL: Worcester City 2-0 Leamington – Danny Jackman

-Back underway here. Attendance: 598

– As things stand Worcester will be playing Greenwich Borough in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Ellis Deeney gave the hosts the perfect start when he fired home after four minutes. Leamington grew as the game went on without causing any real threats to Carl Heeley’s side.

HALF-TIME: Worcester City 1-0 Leamington

40min: Collett looks a very nervous man in the Leamington goal. Twice he has spilled simple catches and his distribution has been poor to say the least.

36min: Newton almost replicates his scoring antics from Saturday’s draw as he drills an effort from the edge of the box which Vaughan tips behind. Corner comes to nothing.

33min: Yellow card: Sean Geddes the first man into the referee’s book after his reaction to the man in the middle giving a free-kick for his challenge on Morley.

29min: Jackman’s corner finds Deeney who looped a header back across goal and Wright flashed a half volley from the edge of the six-yard box across the face of goal and wide. Real chance for Worcester.

24min: Wayne Thomas misjudged a long ball down the middle and Batchelor pounces but fires wildly over the bar. The Brakes gaining in confidence as the half goes on.

20min: Good news for both teams as Weir and Dodd come back onto the pitch.

18min: Collision between Weir and Dodd on the far side sees the pair collide with the advertisement boards. Not much movement from either player at the moment.

15min: Leamington make a rare break into the City half and Newton has an effort deflected off Thomas behind for a corner, which is comfortably cleared at the near post by Jackman.

11min: Corner cleared much to the relief of the Leamington stopper – who receives ironic cheers from the Worcester faithful as he claims a simple catch.

10min: City dominating here and Williams has an effort deflected off James Mace behind for a corner. Corner ends up with Collet making a hash of Deeney’s lofted ball. Another corner for City.

More on goal: City make the perfect start to the game. Great work from Connor Gater down the left saw his delivery cleared to the edge of the box. Deeney’s first attempt was blocked before he got control of the rebound and drilled into the bottom corner past Collett.

4min: GOAL: Worcester City 1-0 Leamington – Ellis Deeney
