FT: Worcester City 2-1 Lowestoft Town

Worcester Editorial 9th Sep, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

LIVE updates from our man at Aggborough, Jonny Bonell, where Worcester City continue their Vanarama Conference North season against Lowestoft Town.

The live update has now finished.

Brilliant entertainment here at Aggborough in which debutant Sean Geddis put City ahead at half-time with a bullet header after captain Ellis Deeney had seen red for a two-footed lunge. Robert Eagle then received his marching orders for the visitors at the start of the second half, with Daniel Nti heading home the resulting free-kick. Chris Henderson set up a grandstand finish with a header in the 90th minute, but Worcester deservedly hung on to secure all three points. Thanks for following.

FULL-TIME: Worcester City 2-1 Lowestoft Town

More on goal: Adam Smith whipped in a free-kick from the right which the unmarked Henderson headed home to set up a grand-stand finish here at Aggborough.

90min: GOAL: Worcester City 2-1 Lowestoft Town – Chris Henderson

84min: Udoh almost makes an instant impact as he bursts through the visitors back line but fires his effort straight into the keepers arms.

83min: SUB: Worcester City – Scorer of the second goal Daniel Nti is replaced by Daniel Udoh Lowestoft – Joe Marsden comes on for Rickie Hayles.

78min: SUB: Worcester City – Debutant Geddis is replaced by winger David McDermott

78min: Bammant heads an effort at goal but Vaughan is right behind it.

71min: City come again and great inter-play between Jackman and Nti presented Symons with a half-chance but his shot on the turn was straight at the keeper.

68min: SUB: Lowestoft – David Radomski on for Erkhan Okay.

67min: Vaughan produces a fine one-handed save to tip over a 25-yard strike from Adam Smith as Lowestoft make a rare attack.

64min: Nti inches away from making it 3-0 as Symons burst down the left and into the box, squared it across the face of goal but the striker just couldn’t get a touch on it

62min: Substitute Fisk puts a boot in on Symons which has manager Carl Heeley fuming, Fisk then squares up to the City boss as the game starts to boil over.

55min: SUB: Worcester – Jacob Rowe on for Graham Hutchison who limps off. Lowestoft – Andrew Fisk on for Jefferson Louis.

More on goal: The resulting free-kick from Eagle’s red card was whipped in by Jackman and headed downwards and into the corner by Nti to double the hosts’ advantage.

51min: GOAL: Worcester City 2-0 Lowestoft – Daniel Nti

50min: RED CARD: Robert Eagle makes the numbers even as he receives a stright red for a nasty lunge on George Williams.

46min: Geddes and Symons combine once again at the start of the second period to see the latter fire an effort which took a nick off Gaughan and deflect just over the bar. The resulting corner ends with an Nti strike from the box which is comfortably dealt with by Jones.

-Back underway here

– Bumped into Deeney at half-time, he was visibly gutted about being sent off and said it was a 50/50 where he got the ball.

– A debut header from Sean Geddes sees ten-man City lead their newly promoted rivals at the break. Ellis Deeney controversially saw red for the hosts when he was deemed to have lunged in two-footed on Ross Jarvis. Boos rang out at half-time in protest of referee Daniel Meeson – who the City fans believe has been extremely one-sided this half.

HALF-TIME: Worcester City 1-0 Lowestoft Town

45min: Referee Meeson again angers the City fans for failing to produce a card for Lowestoft defender Curtis Haynes-Brown who cynically brought down Nti on half-way.

3 minutes of added time at the end of the first half.

More on goal: Geddes’ earlier miss won’t matter to him now as the new signing starts as he means to go on with a powerful header past Ashlee Jones from a perfect Connor Gater delivery.

36min: GOAL: Worcester City 1-0 Lowestoft Town – Sean Geddes

30min: The pace of the game has certainly slowed down now after a frantic opening 15 minutes. Still 0-0 with City down to ten men.

25min: Nathan Vaughan produces a double save to first deny Sam Gaughran from outside the box before he palmed away Shaun Bammant’s follow-up.

21min: Nti so close to giving the hosts with a spectacular half-volley on the turn. Flashed over the top of the bar from the right hand side of the box.

16min: City fans furious with the referee again as he awards a rather soft looking free-kick against Mike Symons.

13min: Lowestoft have their first opportunity of the game as Henderson cuts inside from the left hand side but flashed his effort wide.

10min: RED CARD: Ellis Deeney sees red for what referee Meeson deemed to be a two footed lunge. 50/50 ball between Deeney and Ross Jarvis saw the City skipper receive his marching orders.

7min: City well on top in the early stages, a Jackman corner finds Nti free in the box but the striker cushions a volley past the post.

2min:  Geddes almost makes a dream start to his City career. Great play by Nti down the right saw him outmuscle Adam Smith and pull the ball back for the new midfielder, but he miscued and fired wide.

1min: Yellow Card: Wayne Thomas goes into the book within the first 60 seconds for bringing down Shaun Bammant on a quick Lowestoft break.
