WORCESTER Wanderers demonstrated their try-scoring prowess at Weston Fields when they ran out 45-0 winners over Silhillians.

The visitors had their fair share of possession, but it was Wanderers who took their chances in this Midlands One West clash as they wrapped up the bonus point by half time.

Tries from Jake Saddington, Tom Dodge, Mike Dodge and Lee Watson saw Worcester hold a commanding 26-0 advantage at the break.

And the second half continued in the same vein, with the hosts once again proving to be the more clinical side. Gareth Owens struck twice before Dodge wrapped up the win with a try late on.

Meanwhile, Upton-on-Severn thrashed Harbury 64-15 to move up to fourth in Midlands Three West (South).

Johnson’s joy as Worcester thump Aylesford

STEPH Johnson scored a brace of tries to steer Worcester Ladies to an emphatic 43-5 victory away to Aylesford.

She also created Worcester’s opening try as her kick ahead found Lydia Thompson who sprinted clear to score and give her side a 8-0 lead following Megan Goddard’s earlier penalty.

Former England captain Catherine Spencer got a try on the board for Aylesford, but this failed to inspire the hosts, who were overpowered in the second period.

Worcester comfortably saw out the victory thanks to two tries from Johnson and further scores from Samantha Bree, Sian Williams and Lisa Campbell.

Cavs continue winning run

IN-FORM Worcester Cavaliers maintained their perfect start to the A League season with a battling 22-16 win over 14-man Northampton Wanderers at Sixways.

Having ruthlessly seen off Gloucester and Leicester in their previous fixtures, Worcester’s second string would have been looking to stake their claim for a first team jersey once again.

But they did not get it all their own way on Monday night as Northampton moved into a 10-0 lead before the hosts hit back with tries from James Stephenson and JB Bruzulier.

Despite going a man down when Harry Mallinder was brandished a straight red card, Northampton edged 16-12 ahead thanks to a penalty from Will Hooley.

But a try from Mat Gilbert put Worcester back in front before they secured the win with five points from the boot of Robbie Keith.
