Skipper steps up as campaign returns

Worcester Editorial 18th Dec, 2020   0

SKIPPER Craig Jones will take charge of proceedings at Worcester City until a permanent manager is appointed, club chiefs have revealed.

Jones, who has made more than 300 senior appearances as a player, has been handed the reigns because of his understanding of the non-league landscape and his role as captain.

The skipper will be supported by other senior members of the playing squad in addition to receiving technical and coaching support from the reserves team management.

A City spokesman said: “This decision was made following in-depth consultations with the first team players and reserve team management to ensure the best possible conditions for the team to perform until a new manager is in place.”

Heather St John’s have pulled out of this weekends fixture at Claines Lane, this now means the Blue and Whites will travel to Tividale FC on Saturday (December 19) with a 3pm kick off.

Current Covid guidelines do not allow City supporters to travel to this fixture.
