Smith ready for City challenge

Rob George 15th Jan, 2022

CITY chiefs have moved quickly to fill the gap left by the departure of Chris Withington with the signing of Malvern Town’s highly-rated Curtis Smith.

The Bromsgrove-based footballer, 20, has been with Malvern for a number of seasons and this term has made 21 appearances for them in the Hellenic League.

Smith, who can play either in defence or midfield, said: “I am very much looking forward the New Year with a new challenge, I know a few of the players and they all speak highly of the club and the atmosphere.

City manager Tim Harris said: “Curtis is a very competitive full back/midfielder with excellent qualities, like many players in the squad he will fit in the group well and with his style and commitment I am sure he will become a firm fans favourite.

“At 20 years old, he still has to develop to his full potential and we will do all we can to help him progress.”

Withington has headed off to California with his partner.
