Stringer: 'My new chapter with Warriors'

VETERAN scrum-half Peter Stringer has joined up with his new teammates at Sixways having just signed a six-month deal with the club.

Observer reporter Aaron Wise was invited to a pre-season training session yesterday (Thursday) and got the chance to speak the Ireland international about his new chapter with Warriors.

Stringer had loan stints with Aviva Premiership clubs Saracens and Newcastle Falcons in the 2011/12 campaign, whilst also adding Bath and Sale Sharks as further strings to his bow.

So what has lured the Munster legend back to England’s top flight competition?

For a man of 39 years of age it has to be said Stringer is in peak condition. He certainly raised a few eyebrows on the field during training as he seamlessly slotted in with players half his age.

Did the number nine envision he would still be pulling on the shirt at 39 back when he made his professional debut in 1998?

But could this loan spell be the curtain call on Stringer’s illustrious career, or will the fat lady continue to sing long into the night?
