Wasps friendly to test Warriors

WORCESTER Warriors will test their Premiership credentials against their new West Midlands rivals Wasps in a pre-season fixture at Sixways.

Warriors will take on Aviva Premiership counterparts Wasps on Saturday, September 26 in a pre-season 3pm kick-off, which will be the first chance for supporters to see some of the new summer arrivals in action ahead of the forthcoming season.

The last meeting between the two sides produced a nail-biting finish in March 2014, when Wasps snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as former Warrior Andy Goode scored with the last kick of the game.

Dean Ryan’s men will be able to learn more about Dai Young’s side – who finished sixth in the table last time out to book a place in the European Champions Cup – after settling into new life in Coventry.

Warriors chief executive Jim O’Toole said: “What better way for us to prepare for the season than a game against our new West Midlands neighbours.

“It’ll be a great opportunity for the team to see how far they’ve come in pre-season ahead of what promises to be an entertaining Premiership campaign and it will no doubt be an exciting afternoon of rugby.”

Warriors will be in action in the Singha Premiership 7s at Kingston Park in Newcastle on Saturday, August, 22 when they will come up against Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks and Newcastle Falcons.
