WORCESTER Wolves will be hoping to secure their sixth consecutive league win tonight (Friday) when they face a top-of-the-table clash against the Newcastle Eagles.

Wolves go into the game at Sport Central sitting top of the BBL Championship after gaining maximum points from their opening five games but the match will be a stern test as they face the side strongly on their heels in second place.

Worcester Wolves director of basketball Paul James said: “It’s always tough in Newcastle, but we’ll be going up there trying to hold on to our undefeated record. We’re excited. We’re ready.”

Wolves will be hoping to get revenge on tonight’s opponents who defeated James’ side 102-87 in a league game towards the end of last season.

Wolves forward Kalil Irving said the team were looking forward to facing Newcastle.

“We are looking forward to the challenge to play against them,” he said. “We feel very confident right now as the guys know their roles and are doing their jobs. That is our strength.”
